Mini-Trampolines For Your Home Exercise Routine
from: Get A Better Life TodayTrampolines continue to become more popular for both fun and exercise as mini-trampolines are a favorite for home exercise. However, some may wonder if a mini-trampoline is actually a good part of a home exercise routine, or does it do more harm than good?
Unlike a regular trampoline, a mini-trampoline sits about eight inches off the ground and is about 40-50 inches in diameter. Thus they're small enough to use indoors, and some models even fold up for easier storage. Prices ranges from about $50-$300, which makes them quite affordable compared to other types of exercise equipment.
You can jump on min-trampolines as you normally would, or you can do rebounding exercises developed by various trainers. Other exercises can be done while sitting down on the trampoline. However, the fact that these mini-trampolines are actually fun means you're more likely to use them on a regular basis.
The health benefits of mini-trampolines are numerous since jumping on a mini-trampoline, also known as rebounding, is an aerobic exercise that will get your heart pumping and will strengthen your bones, thus reducing the chance of fractures due to osteoporosis.
Unlike other high impact exercises, a trampoline mat absorbs much of the downward force, which means there's less stress on your bones and joints than running or jumping on harder surfaces. This stimulates the lymphatic system, which depends on movement and deep breathing to flow properly. They also help improve balance, reduce stress, improve blood circulation and stimulate metabolism and the digestive process.
An important disadvantages, of course, of a mini-trampoline is the risk of falling off. Thousands of children and adults injure themselves every year using a trampoline. A recent study by Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, states that injuries occur on mini-trampolines about as much as on regular trampolines, though the injuries from mini-trampolines tend to be less likely to require a hospital visit.
Lower extremities are usually what gets injured, such as a broken leg or sprained ankle, though children under the age of six are more prone to hitting their head. Here are some precautions you can take to prevent inuries:
* Trampoline springs should be completely covered to prevent feet from getting caught in the springs.
* Inspect the legs, springs, canvas, and hinges (if your mini-trampoline folds up) on a regular basis for signs of wear and tear or loose screws.
* It's safter to put the trampoline on a carpet or non-slip exercise mat rather than the bare floor. This makes it less stressful on your body if you should fall, plus the trampoline is less likely to move around under your feet.
* If you use the mini-trampoline indoors, use a room where ceiling is high enough so you don't hit it while jumping, and keep away from ceiling fans and chandeliers.
* Some models have a stabilizing bar you can hold onto while you jump which is worth considering for added security.
* Never let children jump on it without adult supervision.
Althought your must exercise care when using a mini-trampoline, as is the case with any exercise equipment, the benefits certainly outweigh the risks. Using one as part of your home exercise routine will be both fun and an great way to get in shape.
